TIL that while I thought Quake was the pinnacle for John Romero and Id software, the reality was far from it. Also didn't know that Romero was also behind another one of my favorite games - Deus Ex.

Mocking is considered a unit test code-smell. Sometimes you have no choice but to use it, but should keep it as minimum as possible and certainly not mock anything which has a direct effect on the code you're testing.
