I think I'm just tired of the "Game developers sit in chairs and talk to you" style of game presentation.

I wanna see some gameplay. I wanna see some interesting stuff. Your game comes out THIS YEAR, right? So you should have PLENTY to show off that won't spoil anything.

But that transmission was bad. Like...at least give me a TASTE of something. You made some okay-ish noodles but I needed something more for my palate. Give me a sprinkle of what Bloober Team's working on, ANYTHING.

I watched the Silent Hill Transmission after it and I was -really- hoping for more than just... Townfall circle-jerking.

I'll keep an open mind! But for right now Townfall just doesn't seem like it has the sauce. Silent Hill F had the sauce even if I still don't like that it's not -in- Silent Hill.

Caught up on State of Play today. Gotta say, it was pretty good. Plenty of cool stuff, SUPER excited for a new Castlevania with...potentially Sonia?! (yeah fuck you IGA lol)

I feel like in your efforts to not throw a blanket over AI use, you're throwing it over people with disabilities instead.

This tech is only a few years old. Are you saying that there were no artists with any disability? Because I've seen artists who can draw with their feet, or their mouth.

Anyway, it's foggy as hell outside and I wanted to rant about how we'll never see Silent Hill 2 done justice in film because everybody in charge of it couldn't be bothered to at least LOOK at what they're adapting before doing it. Have a good night.

I would also argue that he treats Laura how he does most of the game because of some inner jealousy he might harbor for her, taking his precious Mary's attention at the hospital. But his delusion couldn't possibly bring itself to do her any harm, if she's not real.

We're not given these answers because their whole purpose is to shine the spotlight back on different aspects of James. How he shows pity on Angela but in a still arguably misogynistic way. How with Eddie he shows that he has the capacity for murderous violence.

The people James meets in Silent Hill are mysteries all their own. It's ambiguous whether they're really even there or not, because of James' delusion.

Was Angela there? Or did James read about her in the newspaper you find?

Was Laura there? Or does James just remember her from the hospital?

It's a story about loss, the unfairness of life and also about the awful things humans do to themselves and each other to cope with such overwhelming despair.

It's not a tragic romance story. It's a story for the end of that romance. It's "in sickness and in health, till death do us part."

I hate it.

Silent Hill 2 might be one of the best stories ever told in gaming. It's a slam dunk, but the movie just ruins all of it.

What's even worse was that this is the ONLY SHOT it had. Nobody's gonna turn around and try again to make it.

Who are Angela, Laura, and Maria? Mysterious characters with their own backstories, histories, and trauma (or lack thereof?)

I feel like some of the blame for why Return to Silent Hill is so bad can be laid at the feet of the people who need their media literacy spoon-fed to them like a toddler rather than risk any sort of ambiguity in the stories they experience.

Indie game devs, when you use the slop machine in your game, it makes it clear to players that you don't give a fuck and just want money.

Draw crappy but genuine art instead.

My guy a placeholder asset doesn't have to look good. It could literally be a stick figure on a napkin. If you're not creative enough to accomplish even that, you're not creative enough for an entire game.

Zelda Outlands is a popular romhack of the original NES game. What makes it unique is that its sort of Metroidvania-ish in design that you don't complete levels in "Zelda order." You unlock items and can complete more of different levels.
