A fun 'tease' version I did with some minimal tribal cloth...I liked this one a lot.

I felt very much the same until the Wallbreakers in this, but then it hooked me. I'd say maaybe push on until 'The Spell'? or til Luo Ji comes back in? hard to be more specific without spoilers. But the ending third was so good, I want to just say 'yes'.

In the Dark Forest, I felt that way about the first third or so but once I hit a major story milestone at like the 30% point, it all suddenly started making sense why it was structured like that. I think I attempted to start Dark Forest 2 times before that but it finally clicked and I was hooked.

So, you're definitely not alone on that. I think it's safe, especially in the first book, to kind of 'fast read' and skip along in some parts. In hindsight, i felt that same way a lot in 3BP, less toward the end.

Finished The Dark Forest. Actual chills, fantastic book. I think once i hit the 1/3 mark i couldn't put it down.
