Been watching Gardeners’ World and thinking how very much I miss having my own garden. I wouldn’t even mind if I had a tiny house or a little cabin, but to have a decent patch with room for flowers and vegetables, some trees and a bit of lawn would be heaven.

It’s really nice when that happens though. I get so little positive feedback these days I am always stupidly pleased when I do. (I received a rejection for a job recently but they said such lovely things about my application it made me feel quite good.)

I hated that whole Laddish period. Too many blokes I knew never quite outgrew it.

Better yet, “I bought neither”.

God, this sounds dreadful.

It all started to go wrong when universities began using financial consultants. In one of my university jobs I had to act as amanuensis for two dyslexic students. They both had brilliant minds, but needed that extra support to bring out the work. Both passed with distinction too.

So Philip Glass just joined TikTok. He only has like 4 posts and they’re simply him in what I assume is his living room playing the piano. First comment on one I saw was “your piano is too close to the fireplace, you’ll dry it out” and if that’s not the internet in a nutshell I don’t know what is.

I don’t think ‘nice’ is damning with faint praise, not always. Sometimes nice can be quite lovely. (I haven’t listened to the above, btw, this is just an opinion.)

Haven’t had a single day this week when there hasn’t been some form of appointment, either medical or UC/jobseeking related. Another js one this aft, on the phone at least. Next week there are two, plus any others that pop up. I’m so tired. And I still have to find the energy for everything else.

It was a clumsy link, I thought. Though I did like (what I took to be) the little nods to films scattered throughout, like the name of Michael’s road, the bicycle kid.

I loved the prophets themselves, I thought they were well done. The neighbours didn’t work well (Sophie Willan seemed so awkward in this, but I liked Alma’s Not Normal) and yes, MC was underused.

I for one would definitely buy this compilation. It would be the perfect accompaniment to @scribblerrob.bsky.social’s incredible, wide-ranging book.

Love this.
