i feel like this is the kind of image a person makes super late at night when they're sleep deprived

that's true, "main character" and "protagonist" don't necessarily mean the same thing

speaking of characters this is an unpopular perspective but I don't think Vaan is that bad of a character, I see him more as a gameplay/POV protagonist more than a story protagonist (that role goes to Ashe of course) so when I think of it that way I'm not too bothered.

Ivalice is my favourite setting in all of FF all the architecture and the art direction is just awesome
