a nameberry.com forum post where user new.romantic says “I’m looking for nicknames for Madeleine that aren’t Maddy (or Addy). My original one was Lena (Len-uh), but it’s too un-intuitive for me. I’ve thought of Delly, but that sounds too much like the word deli. Della just doesn’t click for me. I found Liddy, traditionally a nickname for Elizabeth, but at this point in time, Madeleine's hypothetical sibset would include an Elizabeth and that’s a little too confusing for me. I’m open to any suggestions, but would prefer it ending in the -y/-ie/-i sound. Edit: Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I decided on Madeleine Estelle “Nelly,” even though it’s a bit of a stretch it comes more naturally to me than others.”
