Nancy Pelosi will retire after historic 20-term career in Congress Her departure, along with the death of Sen. Dianne Feinstein in late 2023, marks the end of a historic chapter for female political leadership in California.

Here we go. The fight for her seat is going to be nuts. www.sfchronicle.com/politics/art...

Here's Fantastic Four #141 from 1973. Probably the biggest crisis the family ever faced.

Summary Bibliography: David Pettus

This is a good portion of what my friend David Pettus had published in his lifetime. I met him in 1979 when he was compiling material for his fanzine, Fan Plus, and even had a few things included as spot illustrations.

Daniel Lurie Pledges to Streamline City Bureaucracy in Bid for Mayor - San Francisco Download Daniel Lurie, a nonprofit executive and heir to the Levi Strauss fortune, has centered his campaign for San Francisco mayor on a promise to reform city government and make it function more efficiently...

Are we sure this isn't fake news? The site's "staffers" all have GAN-generated profile pics. Also, according to them, Daniel Lurie is still running for Mayor. sanfranciscodownload.com/daniel-lurie...

What goes on here is a microcosm for the party. AOC was trying to explain last night. Each state. Each city in the state have different personalities. The party leadership has to reorganize and understand there is no one answer to a very diverse coalition.

I was talking to someone recently who is new to SF and said everyone is a liberal here so didn't understand the politics. Not really. There are very different concerns in different areas and it is about to get very nasty with Nancy retiring. I don't think Scott is the shoe in post recall.

From a newspaper article:

Democrats are desperate for a formula to regain control of Congress and the White House. But Tuesday’s elections, though bringing welcome victories, also sent a mixed signal.

The "mixed signal" here is that Mamdani won in New York and Sherrill and Spanberger won in New Jersey and Virginia. It baffles me that pundits look at that and think, "But what is the formula now?" rather than "In different constituencies, different candidates will do well."

This is Adelita Grijalva. She was elected 43 days ago.

Republicans still refuse to swear her in because she is the final vote needed to release the Epstein Files.

AOC nailed it (and she was right in admonishing the old guard in one of her interviews). "At the end of the day I don’t think that our party needs to have one face. Our country does not have one face. It’s about all of us as a team together, and we all understand the assignment."

Groff: β€œI understand that this is a question of vital importance to a lot of people, particularly to other mothers who are artists trying to get their work done, and know that I feel for everyone in the struggle. The discussion among conservatives about the VA Governor’s race reveals how little they think about Black voters. They cannot fathom that Black voters are rejecting a Black candidate. They honestly believe that Black people are only interested in racial representation and not concerned about policy.

"He’s a prince who thinks he’s a king already": The day a young Prince supported The Rolling Stones, and was abused and brought to tears by thousands of food-throwing racists The Rolling Stones appeared to blame Prince for their audience's deplorable reaction to his performance at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on their 1981 Tattoo You tour

Last night I was talking about this concert. My brother was there. I think it showed the Rolling Stones true colors. They became famous covering Black music and they did not protect the heir to that music. Gross. www.loudersound.com/features/pri...
