A guy who can't wrap his head around why the word "American" is overly broad to describe citizens of the US when there are 2 entire continents with over 20 total countries that are *also American*.

Jackass.

A guy who can't wrap his head around why the word "American" is overly broad to describe citizens of the US when there are 2 entire continents with over 20 total countries that are *also American*. Jackass.

Here is the interaction I have found that best encapsulates the original posters intentional ignorance. He clearly understands the point being made, but egotistically insists "American" specifies natives of the USA because "it's literally in our name" - unlike the 2 continents apparently?

Yep. Exactly.

Yeah - I mean, I can say "you-ess-ian". It isn't that difficult.

Just cumbersome.

Ohhh that sort of conservative.

Like the angry - we need to break the system by voting for the other people that created the system we hate and would make it way worse - mob.

AKA idiots.

Got it.

Yeah, of all the things to find insulting... An *accurate* - if unpronounceable - descriptor upsets you?

People are more ignorant than I imagine, always.

It also helps that the Oil price increases will provide an easily articulated mask for tariff driven inflation in Q2.

They can blame it on something other than the Tariffs now.

I mean, the justification is that they needed a significant distraction to ensure their polling numbers didn't crater further.

The Olympics were over.

Need something to tide them over until the summer when the World Cup starts?

Hold. On...

How?

This person is probably more insane than they sound.

I swear these people don't have object permanence

If your comparables are the guy who was scoring at a higher rate than Ovechkin through his first 8 NHL seasons... You are in extremely unique company.

It is insane to see this level of production from an 18 year old *defender*.

Like... WTF? This would be bonkers for an elite F scorer at 18.

Auston Matthews had two stretches of 7 goals in 8 gp at 18.

I'm a bit confused on one point about the Anthropic / Pentagon fallout.

Does the US DoD actually have the ability to direct its contractors who to do business with? They don't own the corporations.

I mean, I suppose they could just stop working with the contractor if they continue?

But AWS? No

Had the border clashes in Kashmir with Pakistan continued I'd have added them. But I think they have died down a bit.

9th month of the year. Something important happening at the end of December / start of January.

Can't figure it out!

02.03.2026 02:05 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

They weren't on the list.

Leetch's record of 23 goals for an NHL rookie D is easily in sight for Schaefer who has 22 games remaining to score 3 goals.

He has now scored 4 goals in his last 2 gp.

He might hit 30 the way this is going.

02.03.2026 02:04 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Only 3 NHL rookie D had ever scored 20 or more goals prior to Schaefer.

NYR Brian Leetch 23 in 1988-89 (he scored 2 in 17 gp in 87-88)
CLR Barry Beck 22 in 1977-78
CGY Dion Phaneuf 20 in 2005-06

All of them were 20 in their rookie season.

Schaefer turns 19 on Sept 5th (we share a birthday, COOL).

Pakistan.

5 of those nations have nuclear weapons.

So.

That isn't good.

So, we seem to be creeping closer and closer to something approaching a global conflict.

There is ongoing conflict involving (or targeting) all of these countries:

US
Russia
Iran
Ukraine
North Korea (in Ukraine)
Israel
Lebanon
Saudi Arabia
UAE
Yemen
Iraq
Kuwait
Pakistan
Afghanistan

Israel now confirming it has struck Beirut, says airstrikes were a response to rocket fire from Lebanon about an hour earlier.

AP: Israel launched a barrage of strikes on Beirut after Lebanese militant group Hezbollah fired missiles across the border early Monday. Hezbollah said in a statement that β€œstrikes were carried out in retaliation for the killing of Iran’s supreme leader and for repeated Israeli aggressions.”

Even less appreciated is the fact that Grandpa Pahlavi was an out-and-out Nazi who allied with Hitler until he got overthrown during WWII by the Soviets and the Brits

And they also literally bombed Iran within the last 12 months.

Oh and the French get referred to as Frogs in the Anglosphere....

Food based, but again, why might this exist?!

Also - pejorative demonyms used for the British abound out of a sense of social justice:

Limey, Pom (or Pommie), Redcoat, etc.

Jee I wonder why they were targeted similarly? Can't quite figure it out!

02.03.2026 01:22 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh - I also find it amusing the original poster can't discern why they *might* be the target of a demonym in the name of political justice.

What might lead to that? Hmmm? Can you sincerely not come up with anything relevant in the political justice space?
