I climbed into the truck, starting it up. I headed toward the Ranch house as fast as was safe.
"Who is missing?"
My stomach knotted as I considered who it might be."Does your brother know?"

"what's wrong?" My heart thudded in my chest. It wasn't typical for @medicalpoetess.bsky.social to sound so frazzled. "Talk to me, Darlin'. Need me to head your way?"
I was climbing out of the tractor as I spoke, worry flooding my mind

I heard my phone ring over the rumble of the tractor. Swiped my brow as I killed the engine, digging the gadget from my jeans pocket. "'lo."

I was ill equipped to help. She hadn't asked me. She had made phone calls to the people that could assist her.
As soon as she had made contact with everyone, I got behind the wheel of the truck. I'd wait to make sure she didn't need a ride, then I'd head back to the ranch, and out of the way.

Sage. I knew what this meant for her. She would have to stay. Have to help. I couldn't blame her there. This was a crisis. I'd help where I could, but after hearing @medicalpoetess.bsky.social 's calls, I knew I'd need to step back. This was out of my depths. I was human. This was a pack matter.->
