I heard that too when I went last month. Can't afford to let our guard down, that's for sure.

Toronto reveals transit-first plan to manage FIFA congestion Toronto’s full traffic management plan will be released later this month, but a city report posted on Tuesday shows how the city plans to manage an uptick in traffic and how it will attempt to discour...

β€œCongestion is expected to increase by 10 to 15 per cent during the events in key downtown areas.”

The city said it’s taking β€œa transit-first approach to help residents and visitors move safely and efficiently throughout the city” for the FIFA tournament.

The Meadoway has released their 2025 Annual Report. You can read about last year's highlights including the completion of the Marcos Blvd to Arsandco Park stretch of the trail. Look forward to the Bermondsey to Eglinton stretch next. #BikeTO #WalkTO #ScarbTO #TOpoli themeadoway.ca/app/uploads/...

Even so, nothing can be taken for granted given Brad Bradford's record on council is questionable at best.

Since when did being conservative have to mean being carbrain? Shouldn't being a conservative mean saving money which not having a car - or reducing a household from two cars to one - would achieve in spades? 🀷

Of course there's going to be hypocrisy abound from the opposition!

That still doesn't address the problem that current VIA Rail service is held hostage to the whims of freight rail companies along that Lake Ontario corridor which was why Alto categorically ruled it out.

I was hearing a lot more noise from Gerretsen than from Hsu on the HSR file. To be fair, if I was a Kingston resident or politician, I would be disappointed too about Alto not planning to stop there.

I am aware of @markgerretsen.bsky.social's calls for a stop at Kingston. While not entirely opposition, I recall an earlier article which Alto warned too many changes could derail the project. I just hope this thing gets built sooner rather than later given how long overdue HSR is in Canada.

Fair point. However, a legit question remains when would such an intervention be OK? Requiring UN Security Council approval is increasingly difficult these days with the five permanent members (US, UK, France, Russia, and China) holding veto power.

Dozens of Ontario farming communities fear losing businesses and land to Canada’s new high-speed train line The federal government has backed plans to build a rail capable of travelling 300 km/h between Toronto and Quebec City, a project that could lead to the most expropriations of any project in Canadian ...

In addition to rural landowners, #CPC MP's such as Scott Reid have come against high speed rail. While Alto still has the obligation to minimize land acquisitions and ensure fair compensation, Conservatives are OK with keeping Canada a global embarrassment. #cdnpoli www.thestar.com/business/doz...

We would also need to get rid of Doug Ford for Toronto to get anywhere near on that path.

John Tory says he won't run for Toronto mayor this fall | CBC News Former Toronto mayor John Tory has announced he will not run again for the city's top job in this fall's municipal election.

While I'm glad John Tory made the right decision to not run for Mayor again given how he & Rob Ford ruined this city, we can't afford to take things for granted. Now we must do everything we can to #StopBradford and re-elect Olivia Chow (should she confirm this). #TOpoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Vancouver, you're not alone unfortunately. Toronto hasn't held a single open streets event since 2022 whether it was OpenStreetsTO (Bloor & Yonge) or the ActiveTO major road closures such as on Lake Shore West! These events are needed to encourage physical activity! #shame #BikeTO #BikeYVR #BikeSky

We all pay for roads regardless of how we get around and more often than not, it's non-drivers who are subsidizing drivers. Especially considering the low cost of sidewalks and bike paths compared to roads, while cars - and especially heavy trucks - wear out roads a lot more.

Coldest Day of the Year RideΒ 2026 Today was the annual Coldest Day of the Year Ride, organized by Cycle Toronto, with support from the City of Toronto and Toronto Bike Share. Given that it was on the last day in February, it wasn't the coldest day of the year thus far, but no one was complaining about the sunny and comparatively balmy weather. The start point was Sugar Beach.

When I went to Bishop's from 2004 to 2008, I had to pay roughly $5000 per year as a New Brunswicker compared to $1700 annually for QuΓ©bec students. The out of province rate back then was in line with the national average.
