Not the insidious Andrew Tate although I’m a keen kickboxer. Fed up with the monetisation of hatred, conspiracies and extreme political views on X. @andrewtait67 on there. Add if you recognise me.

When @grok starts lying about what @grok has written, we are all in trouble.

It means they don’t have to factcheck or contextualise anything Trump says. Note the reporting of the trade deal promised after Starmer’s visit.

We're not done yet | 18F

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Trump was offered the opportunity to meet Prince Andrew as well but apparently they’re already well acquainted.

That’s fine but then add caveats. He promised May and Johnson amazing trade deals. When he did the same with Starmer that context is vital. Obviously this is just one example.

One of the main issues Starmer faces is that while Trump often forgets his promises, he never forgets when he's been undermined.

He also said that the Tates must face justice in the U.K. It was a question put to Trump which Starmer could’ve let slide had he wanted to.

Trump lied about the UK giving Ukraine a loan and Starmer interjected that it was a gift.

‘Only 1% of fentanyl coming in is from Canada’. ‘We should be stopping more than 1%’. Levels of moronic.

Trump’s action will be devastating in the U.S. and across the world. The GOP are not dissimilar to the Tories under Johnson. Starmer’s priority is to limit the impact on the U.K. Trump’s ego is a weakness to be exploited.

This is true. Stephen Fry described him as pronoid. Starmer has the opportunity to save jobs and even lives with a token concession. I don’t see many other pragmatic alternatives,

I understand but then doesn’t the meeting itself normalise fascism? Cutting overseas aid to appease the dictator has tangible consequences. Conversely, I’m not sure his fragile ego could cope with the real free speech he’d encounter here.

Why not? What do we give up? If he can get concessions that really matter by appealing to Trump’s notorious vanity then do it. Let him come so he can see what the majority of the U.K. think about him.

The reason we always lose to the right wing extremists is because we refuse to support the least worst option. I understand that Starmer isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but we don’t have the luxury of being able to sit this one out.

My understanding is that there are no openly atheist US Senators. Religion is the go to when they can back up their arguments with evidence.

There’s a lot of tribalism on there. I fear that most would rather win the argument than find the least worst realistic approach. iandunt.substack.com/p/a-newslett...
