Today marks 6 years since WalletConnect was first shared with the community π
A simple prototype which grew into a thriving ecosystem π
Wallet UX continues to improve and our mission to build more interoperability continues πͺ
Cheers to another 6 years of @WalletConnect π
Blockchains are really hard π₯²
But Iβm not referring to the technical part which you can learn about it π
Yet Blockchains are still operated and governed by human beings π€
Blockchains remove a lot of human coordination but not all of it π
Coordination is the key! π
Decentralization is not easy but its worth it πͺ

Iβm not saying itβs the only thing it matters but there is very little space for great user experience without widely adopted standards
Ethereum UX is built on many EIPs and ERCs!
Multi-chain Accounts do NOT exist!
The goal is not to make accounts multi-chainβ¦
What we need is multi-chain Assets instead π
Smart Contract Wallets do NOT exist! π
Some wallets support normal accounts (EOAs)
And some might support smart accounts (SCAs)
Eventually all wallets sill support both account typesβ¦
Now the question is where will the future wallets live? π€
Specialized Trust Machines as L2s will be a future trend for blockchain computing
That will be possible only after we decouple ourselves from βstandardβ EVM
We will start building βacceleratedβ EVM or alternative blockchain VMs that leverage the generalized EVM for security
A similar trend is being observed for blockchain computing
First trust machines were specialized (Bitcoin)
Then evolved into generalized (Ethereum)
Now we are slowly moving into accelerated (EVM L2s)
Today L2s are not specialized yet but they are most likely move away from EVM
The same evolution can be observed for cloud computing
First virtual machines were specialized (dedicated data centers)
Then evolved into generalized (shared data centers)
Now are setup as accelerated (shared microservices)
Both physical and virtual are now accelerated
All computing evolves into accelerated setup
First physical machines were specialized
Then evolved into generalized
Now are setup as accelerated
Todayβs consumer chips have some generalized cores side-by-side with specialized cores for graphics, crypto and AI
PWAs have had a rocky history starting all the way back in 2015β¦
It has struggled to gain popularity due to the lack of native mobile features
Exactly 12 months ago Apple introduced push notifications for PWAs
The upcoming iOS 17.4 will now remove it again due to EU laws
Web3βs biggest advantage is that itβs a global-scale research project with real users πͺ

Why do we expect only one EVM implementation to exist?
Ethereum Mainnet will always be the conservative one but L2s will push the boundaries
Embrace EVM diversity to cultivate more innovative implementations
The only reason MPC wallets are needed is because we believe EVM will fail to move away from EOAs and will also fail to adopt other cryptographic curves other than secp256k1 π

They have adapted the CAIP-10 spec for EVM chains and created the ERC-3770 standard
This how all dapps and wallets should treat EVM accounts

Treating an Address as an Account while ignoring the chain is a βsolutionβ generating more problems that it solves
There is a reason CASA standards were built around specs such as CAIP-2 and CAIP-10
Letβs not be lazy and build long-term solutions

EVM ecosystem loves the 1 address for All chains pattern π
But itβs going to backfire so badly once Smart Account become predominant π
Just because it used to workβ¦ it doesnβt mean it was the right thing to do
Account = Chain + Address

A multi-chain world cannot exist under the assumption that ONE address MUST work in ALL chains
