Additional details of the spaces for preliminary design

After overall design is done we have to think about lighting design - how to make it accessible during nighttime- landscape design - what plants where and why etc.

Wind experience

For me, I want the users to experience wind in different ways along their journey up and that was why I added graters between floors, railings and facade to act as a filter. Some openings are also for the wind to affect the user in a specific way ex. At the back column.

So this was my preliminary design. I now have stairs with functional railings.

Stairs + railings = horror of 2nd year students

It was hard because the stair and railings often interfere with our design and elements. Most will look out of place. I didn’t design it at first but learned the importance later.

this will become my preliminary design before final.

Then I tried to follow the regulations more resulting in making it stand up straight because I couldn't exceed the site limit which is 9×9 max + also it was too weird to construct

( I was going to make a tilting one .. bc wind concept 😭 )

After the students got some ideas. We have to work on the technical parts. The project's ideal goal is a functional observation tower on a university property with stairs, different spaces and railings following the regulations and stuff.

This was my first rendition of it. (4)

First few weeks was just us trying to construct interesting mock models out of the patterns. I don't have the image for my FIRST mock ones but it was really stupid (these are more recent), It was just a pure spiral wires. But you get the idea. Repeating curves and circular shapes !

earth - wind - water - fire

And as for my studio, we did a lucky draw. I got wind, so my first aim was to try to get a pattern out of it / dig more into its aspect I'm interested in which is the sound and how it can be visualized.
