Back then, we just kinda learnt on our own because we loved a character or the world that character was in

I don't know why it's so hard today for people to pick up a fighting game, maybe the world has just changed that much

That's probably why people have an easier time getting into the Dragonball and Naruto styled arena fighters, they already have the movement on left stick, camera on right stick from many other games

I personally think that it's hard for normies to get into fighting games because there's nothing out there to prepare them for the gameplay. The closest I could think of was rhythm games, but even that's a stretch.

A lot of other game genres have overlap in controls, CS, Rivals, Overwatch etc

Well it definitely allowed me to block a whole lot of 'em!
