Del. Susan McComas (R-Harford) has withdrawn, leaving open a Trump+10 in '24 and Trump+8 in '20 district. Potentially competitive in a strong Dem year.

On the state legislative side, 16 Senators and 17 Delegates have no primary or general election opponents. All of these races weren't expected to be competitive in the general with 1 exception: Delegate Heather Bagnall in HD-33C, who won in 2022 by only 8%.

Attorney General Anthony Brown will not have an opponent in the primary or the general election. The last time a statewide office was uncontested was in 2010, when Attorney General Doug Gansler won re-election unopposed.

Side note: Party Central Committees have until Monday to appoint candidates for offices where there are vacancies.

Case in point: Dorchester County State's Attorney, where neither party currently has a filed candidate.

For the 5-member Washington County Board of Commissioners, 8 Democrats have filed, the most since 2006.

Interesting candidate for #FL13 - retired Brigadier General Leela Gray. Continues a trend I'm noticing of Democratic candidates who don't sound like traditional Democrats.

Harry Dunn enters the Dem primary for #MD05.

Unlike his previous run, he has a personal connection to this district; he grew up in Clinton, Maryland.

Squinting at this, it's along party lines except for Delegate Sample-Hughes, the only Democrat currently representing the eastern shore.

For all you Maryland politics junkies, here is a photo of the vote board on the redistricting bill in the House of Delegates tonight. This was before the final call and it is unofficial. Official roll call is not publicly posted yet.

But have fun zooming in:

A 31.4% swing is unlikely to hold in the midterms.

That being said, if it were, Maryland Democrats would:
-Gain MD-01, whether redistricting happens or not
-Gain 11 seats in the State Senate
-Gain around 26 House of Delegates seats
-Gain 13 more county council/board majorities.
