I saw firsthand how they are preparing DC residents for good-paying, union careers through hands-on training, mentorship, and pathways into the skilled trades. Strong apprenticeship programs are critical to building an equitable workforce .

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting with the leadership of the International Association of Iron Workers - Mid-Atlantic and touring their apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship training facility.

In this moment, when so many people feel disillusioned by our democracy, we have the opportunity to model something better: campaigns that can compete with integrity and still stand together for Ward 1.

It was especially meaningful to gather in the spirit of Ranked Choice Voting. RCV invites us into a different kind of politics — one rooted in collaboration over division, shared vision over scarcity.

Huge thank you to Liz Furgurson and Sally Greenberg for hosting a fundraiser for our campaign last night! We’re so grateful for the incredible support behind our people powered movement 💙 !

Loved every second of this dance party with my Ward 1 seniors at the Bernice Elizabeth Fonteneau Wellness Center! 💃🏾✨ So grateful for spaces like the Center that keep our seniors active, connected & thriving. This is why we fight for strong investments in wellness, recreation & community programming.

His work paved the way for leaders like me. Because he ran, because he organized, because he refused to accept political exclusion, Black candidates across this country — including right here in Ward 1 — can step forward with vision and confidence.

What uplifts me most about Reverend Jackson’s legacy is his courage. He believed that government must work for the people — esp. those pushed to the margins. He organized, mobilized, spoke truth to power. And he insisted that our communities deserved dignity, opportunity, and real investment.

His work paved the way for leaders like me. Because he ran, because he organized, because he refused to accept political exclusion, Black candidates across this country — including right here in Ward 1 — can step forward with vision and confidence.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. — a freedom fighter, presidential candidate, and unwavering champion for Black empowerment. Rev. Jackson showed our nation what was possible when Black leadership was bold, organized, and unapologetic about demanding justice.

As I run for DC Council in Ward 1, I’m choosing to lead with love, rooted in courage, accountability, and community. The kind of love that checks on neighbors. That organizes. That votes. That shows up.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Ward 1! Thank you for your continued support.

This Valentine’s Day, my heart is full ❤️.

I know so many of us are carrying fear right now. Fear about our democracy. Fear about what’s happening in our city and across the country. Fear about whether our voices will still matter tomorrow.

And that fear is real.

But love is real too.

We had a thoughtful conversation about housing supply, affordability, responsible development, and what it takes to create stable pathways to homeownership. look forward to continuing the dialogue 💙🏡.

From ANC to DC Council, I carry Delta’s mission with me, committed to advancing opportunity, equity, and justice for every Ward 1 family. 🔺

Service means showing up. Scholarship means doing the homework and understanding the policy. Sisterhood means building coalitions and leading with integrity and accountability.

Delta taught me that leadership is rooted in service, that advocacy must be informed by scholarship, and that sisterhood means standing shoulder-to-shoulder to uplift our communities. Those values shaped my work as an ANC Commissioner and continue to guide me as I run for DC Council in Ward 1.

As a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., sisterhood, scholarship, and service aren’t just words, they are a lifelong commitment. ❤️🤍

It was great meeting this lovely senior at the Bernice Fonteneau Senior Wellness Center yesterday morning. I went to yoga, we watched high on the hog documentary for the wellness workshop and it was great having lunch together, laughing and chatting!
