Army brat, Army wife. "All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all." Also, "He who made kittens, put snakes in the grass." Still, we must get back to the garden.

Real news that @60minutes.bsky.social cut from the televised show. Real, important news for an educated public. This is sane-washing out of fear of losing favor.

Thank you! I have really enjoyed voting by mail. I can take my time and get a chance to learn about measures and lesser-known candidates for lesser-known positions. We also have a great Oregon Voters pamphlet that includes a wealth of information. So good!

Thank you! But _this_ is th part of th Declaration of Independence that first came to mind, for me!:

"... that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, ... But when a long train of abuses and usurpations ..."

The biggest story in the country right now should be Donald Trump admitting he has no idea who he's pardoning—and that he only pardoned a crypto fraudster because his sons told him to.

Could you imagine the reaction if Joe Biden admitted something like that?

Amazon and Walmart are two of the biggest recipients of SNAP and Medicaid funds because they don't take care of their employees. Families working 40+ hours a week requiring gov subsistence. In Canada they go to food pantries to make ends meet.

I whole-heartedly agree. I love Bernie (but 'married' Hillary), but that is exactly what I began to notice about him in 2016.

Federal agents are gassing peaceful protestors. That is not making the public safe. That is making the public the federal government's adversary. We're being targeted by our own government. Something's deeply wrong about it.

Taylor Swift donates hugely to several causes -- and I think she just donated to food aid, following Billie Eilish's lead.

... referring to my recent reply, I consider myself to be a mainstream Democrat, but I do have a river of "degrowth crank" running through me.

Well, I consider myself to be left, but pragmatic. I try to squelch th 'degrowth crank' in myself. But when I see a chunk of luscious land be stripped to build a new mega distribution center, I do not celebrate. I know it's good for th economy, but, philosophically, I AM CRANK. I cant help it.

I think Trump's Epstein Ballroom is more accurately referred to as the Great Gatsby ballroom. Obviously he visualizes himself sitting in his very own Pleasure Dome, with scantily-dressed semi-bare-naked ladies entertaining his guests.

It still boggles my mind that so many people couldn't grasp last year how significantly more morally depraved a second Trump term would be in comparison to the first. And how so many people still can't comprehend that our national crisis isn't about politics, but simple morality.

Bravo to space.com for this deeply reported, lengthy piece.

Depressing, but a shocking thing is Goddard is using the shutdown to order moves out of lab and engineering spaces on 2-3 days notice, requiring major equipment to just be left behind and demolished

Opinion | What Happened to the Art of the Deal? We urge the administration to allow millions of Americans to receive food aid.

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

President Trump and his congressional allies could end the pain of the government shutdown “by doing what they should have done months ago: making a deal,” the editorial board writes. “The hard work of governing in a democracy is hammering out a compromise.”
