Deleted Elon musk tweet from February 2023 that reads β€œgo eagles”

My top Super Bowl memory is when Musk tweeted β€œGo Eagles” in 2023 from the game and then deleted it after a similar tweet from Biden got more engagement. Then he flew to Twitter HQ and demanded his workers find out why his posts were doing poorly, starting a multi-day fact finding mission.

I love that these complete morons assumed we were sending palettes of cash to countries and not sending things like rice and wheat while paying American farmers for those goods

As a liberal, I'm so mad about what's going on now that I'm going to stop listening to the audiobook of Hillbilly Elegy when I'm in my Tesla.

Trump’s tariffs are driving up prices for us, while driving down demand for U.S. exports in Canada and Mexico.

This why you don’t trust your country’s economic policies to someone who bankrupted 5 casinos.

Incredibly moving Justin Trudeau remarks:

"We have fought and died alongside you....During your darkest hours...we were always there. Standing with you, grieving with you, the American people....Canadians are a little perplexed as to why our closest friends and neighbors are choosing to target us."

I'm reading Character Limit now, and the parallels I'm drawing between it and the current hellscape are frightening.

Courts Are the Last Guardrail From Marc | If democracy is to survive the next four years, the courts will need to perform each of these functions.

If you are looking for the guardrails on MAGA extremism, it does not reside in government institutions or norms. Nor will you find any courage in the boardrooms of large corporations as they bow and scrape before Trump.

That leaves only the courts.

Just a heads up for peeps, if you bought a Neil Gaiman audiobook from Audible, they are allowing refunds for them with no questions asked and no matter how long ago you bought them. I don’t even have an active subscription and they gave me credits back for two titles purchased in 2020.

While we’re banning books…

Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar.

Be. Like. Finland.

The idea that you *must* coexist with and listen to people who are cruel, unjust, and just plain unpleasant to be around is the logic of abusers, by the way

I think Trump is just flooding the zone with terrible Cabinet picks, knowing the Dems can't block them all but at least some will get through. Or it's the old bait and switch. Ok, this guy is terrible. So confirm this one who is merely awful.

Guide Me Home was a mostly satisfying conclusion to the trilogy about crime and racism in East Texas.
The Book Haters' Book Club was mostly entertaining, if a bit formulaic.
What Time the Sexton's Spade Doth Rust was more of the same in a series I think I'm done with.

The Book Swap was a warm hug of a novel that I gobbled up.
This Must Be the Place was sprawling and layered, about a complicated family.
Baggage was dishy and introspective at the same time; perfectly narrated on audio by Cumming himself.
