there's this Olivier Assayas observation about how comic movies are bad because, for instance, Uncanny X Men builds up these webs of narrative over 200 issues and that's what's fun/psychotic about genre comics, so riffing on Semiotext(e) concepts for 70 issues & straying into nonsense sounds cool.

i dont think vertigo makes sense if youre not relaunching it with a majority of English/Irish talent. Vertigo - British Isles = Image

tbf i sold tons of this long out of print shirt as a result, so…

who knows, it really is a view of ppl in comics as entities you know on the internet as personalties rather than ‘oh these are ppl’. if you have an issue with an obit choice, im even cool with you commenting elsewhere on it. but beneath the obit itself, jesus.

i mean, whatever, say what you want to say, but with obits, these are people beyond your internet filtered idea of who these ppl are and how ppl know them.

ive worked on half a dozen tributes/obits for tcj and this happens regularly & it allows blows my mind.

and that in almost all cases, those same friends and family were deeply involved in every aspect of the obit itself.

two recent obits on TCJ feature ppl in the comments complaining about some aspect of the obit writers character. not something i should bother pointing out, but you do know friends and family of deceased read the obits, right? & then they see you in the comments talking about some unrelated issue?

they should be sold with cooking oil lazily smeared onto the cover.

they sorta feel like the dire reality of comics: this is a product made for unhappy plumbers.

bob layton comics are for people with deep, severe depression, they feel unpleasant to look at, like they were made by computers but if computers existed during the stone age. am I a fan? i guess, sure.
