By far the best incident has been when Lorrain felt the need to defend himself against an accusation that he'd been drunk on the job, been sick in front of the condemned prisoners, and subsequently died. He was in fact very much alive.

Long time no update! I passed my viva with no corrections in July and since then have been working away on the monograph. Very excited to be taking up a John Rylands Early Career Fellowship in January, looking at emotions and masculinity in gallows speeches.
