Despite how much I generally enjoy them, I definitely go through phases of open-world burnout in games. But Ghost Of Yotei (and Tsushima before it) hasn't really made me feel that at all.

I've really loved just getting lost in this world, just seeing what happens next.

It's something, too, that I struggle with just jumping the gun at the mere mention of AI-generated stuff, even if it's not inherently the kind that's causing actual harm, like you said.

So from what I can find on their first game The Finals, they used an AI text-to-speech program to generate voice lines taken from recordings by VAs and devs at the studio, so I'd imagine it's the same thing here.

I trust your judgement/insight on this, given that you've been in game dev.

And I've seen the argument that Embark does it "ethically" in that they pay devs at their studio to record audio and then feed it through their own program to generate more "dynamic" voice lines that apparently adapt to player activity, but it just still feels gross.

I've looked at some gameplay of the Arc Raiders launch from yesterday, and it really bums me out that Embark continues to be insistent on using AI to generate voices in their games instead of just using voice actors, because this game looks like something I would be super into otherwise.

As someone who moderates for several Twitch communities, one of the worst things anyone can say when gently asked not to backseat/spoil anything is "But that wasn't a spoiler!!"

That's really not for anyone but the streamer to decide, and it'd be really neat if people could just respect boundaries.

I've been so locked in to Ghost Of Yotei that I haven't played any horror games this month like I usually do!

So, I decided to start a new game+ run of Silent Hill 2. Probably not gonna go through the whole game again anytime soon but since I don't have Silent Hill f yet, this will hit the spot.

So so good!! I've been meaning to watch for years but I'm finally watching it with a friend who's already seen it and it's been amazing so far.

Starting season 2 next week, have no idea what I'm in for and I'm so ready (but also not)!!

I finally just watched Longlegs a couple weeks ago! Really enjoyed it, super unsettling pretty much the whole time.

Also, Vi and Jinx are very quickly becoming two of my very favorite characters in any form of media. Shoutout to Hailee Steinfeld and Ella Purnell for their incredible performances, and oh my god the animators?? And the writers?? And everyone involved in making this show?? So so good.

Welp, season 1 of Arcane is done!

I absolutely love this show. The way it tackles trauma and what it can do to people is really powerful, and I love that it's also very much not subtle in its mirror to real-life social and political themes.

Cannot wait to see where it goes in season 2.

I need it to be February so badly!! Everything I've seen from this game just gets me more excited for it.

I see we're now at the "charge people, one of whom is a Congressional candidate, with federal crimes because they protested in front of an ICE facility" stage of fascism.

It's abhorrent and exhausting and I wish someone in power would do *anything* to tell these fascist fucks to kick rocks.

This show was done so dirty and I will never get over it. Sure, I had some qualms with it but when it hit, it was some of the coolest Star Wars and a season 2 could have crushed.

All because of some YouTube shitheads who were just hateful bigots and monetized that bigotry to their audiences.

Just finished the Splinter Cell anime series that dropped on Netflix a couple weeks ago, and that was a pretty fun time, but it mostly just made me want a new game even more.
