I agree completely! Did you watch the video by chance? I could barely tell the difference in his presentation at this event, which was supposed to be light and fun, and his regular presentations in the HOC.

I watched the entire video of the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery Dinner.

My opinion: Don Davies was hands down the best speaker there this evening. Witty and charming, got a few punches in but it looked in good fun. Carney did a great job also. Both poked fun at others and themselves.

I don't know if you watched it, but after he said those two jokes, he said "I didn't write that." and he turned to face the cameras and whispered "Yes I did!"

Obviously he had writers prepare this for him, but he did a great delivery.

Carney roasting PP: "And I join others in not being able to see Pierre Poilievre anywhere here this evening. Don't you find it odd that no one else is willing to give up their seat?"
