Top Right: Insurance Tower, dark and dominating over the rest of Nexus, red light from the streets below illuminating it like fire.
Middle Top: A skyline shot of Nexus where you can see the towering Cyberpunk style mega structures and The Needle, left over from old Seattle. HUVs are flying through the sky with Mount Rainer in the background.
Top Right: Richard in Brian Lord's office in New Life Towers staring out at Nexus, The Needle in the background
Middle Image: A wide image of The Board meeting in Insurance Tower while out the window the city of Nexus can be seen, mega towers dominating the sky
Middle Box: "Insured: Death is conquered--for a price." The text is surrounded by a computer chip, blood dripping down.
Bottom left: Sil with her eyes closed in a dive terminal ice bath
Middle Bottom: Celeste (left) and Goliath (Right) in the Undercity, standing in the circular tunnel of the Spillway
Bottom Right: The Needle in the forefront of the city of Nexus.

ALTERED CARBON X SCYTHE
When you're rich Insurance ensures you immortality. When you're poor you ensure someone else’s. That didn’t happen to Jake. He should've died, his body claimed by an Insured. Instead he inherits the life and identity of the murdered Father of Immortality.

A mock cover for the novel THE ENGINES THAT DIVIDE, with the title over art of a dieselpunk fighter plane (art by Ryan Li), with the tagline 'Sometimes the easiest decisions to make are the hardest to live with', and the byline, 'A Novel By M. A. Holland'.

Annora Rainecourt would do anything for the boy she loves - the kingdom's saviour - including defying her low-born status and the nobles who scorn her false arm to prove herself worthy. But on the eve of their wedding, Lucan betrays her, and she can't fathom why. So she escapes into the night, her life of sweet smiles and unfaltering loyalty shattered.

Madoc Emory is running out of time. If he can't repay the loan on his tavern, his crew - the only family he has - loses everything. So when a beautiful, intriguing maiden appears begging for help in exchange for payment, he jumps at the chance. Problem is, she wants revenge against the untouchable. The Prince's favoured, and the man prophesied to restore magic to the realm thanks to his discovery of Scale, a weapon forged from wyvern hide. Still, Madoc's desperate and Annora impossible to deny, so they strike a deal. His crew will infiltrate Lucan's empire, and tear him down.

But when they uncover a horrifying truth at the heart of Scale, Annora is faced with a choice. Vengeance, or justice. And changing paths may just unravel her fragile bond with the misunderstood Madoc, and the prophecy her entire kingdom relies on.

Excerpt: Most brides would think a storm on the eve of their wedding an omen, but for Annora Rainecourt it was the greatest blessing she could receive. Because a storm meant chance of a sighting. And what could be more thrilling than that?
She scoured the skies as lightning flashed, illuminating the distant castle and the manor dwellings around it in a shock of monochrome clarity, and there β€” beyond the turrets β€” she saw her first of the night. Thin membrane, spindly tendon and bone, that unfathomable combination of sharp claws and curved edges, swiftly flying through slick rain and thick cloud until the darkness crowded in again and she lost it.
Annora smiled to herself. They always liked storms. The wyverns.
β€œThey’re quiet tonight,” she said, staring out of the lancet window as rain lashed against the panes.
Lucan rolled on the bed to face her, the sheets draped between his legs as if she hadn’t been privy to what was beneath them moments ago. β€œOr perhaps they’re beyond sight,” he said, and ran a hand through long, light hair, pushing it back from his slim face.
β€œThe view from here is perfect,” she murmured, frowning.
Lucan’s manor was on the outskirts of Gaet, the small city of Vlintlann that was home to the nobility and merchant class. The east window of his bedchamber had one of the best views of the kingdom. To the north, Annora could see the long carriageway curving round from the front entrance of the manor to the cobbled road that led to the royal castle β€” its sharp turrets spearing through mist like the teeth of beasts. To the south, past the gardens and a small stretch of woodland, were the mountains. The looming black rock surrounded most of Vlintlann, bar the stretch of land where the border with Coperlann and The Disputed laid. And to the east, in the distance, Annora could see the shimmering lights from the cramped streets of The Bowl, the town where those without riches in Vlintlann lived. Her old home, once upon a time.
