As impressive as the four Habs goals were to take the lead, equally impressive was the job that Monty did in that second period, to keep them in it, and keep the lead. The turning poin of the season for him? Big, if true. #GoHabsGo #Canadiens

Call of the Wilde: Montreal Canadiens comeback to edge the Vancouver Canucks. - Montreal | Globalnews.ca After losing Friday to the Edmonton Oilers over questionable refereeing, the Montreal Canadiens showed their mettle in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canuks.

The future is now. Ivan Demidov joins the first unit long enough to transform the first unit.

Demidov’s first three point game in this Call Of The Wilde for Global Montreal.

He looks like such a good pick (again, granted it's early). Not sure your opinion, but I have visions of a second line in a couple of years of Zharovsky, Kapanen and Demidov. Then imagine rolling out a THIRD line of something like Bolduc, Hage and Rohrer and a 4th of Thorpe, Evans and Xhekaj?

Call of the Wilde: Montreal Canadiens fall to the Edmonton Oilers - Montreal | Globalnews.ca The Montreal Canadiens ability to keep the puck out of their own net this season has been a huge key to their six wins in eight starts, but the Oilers can flip that switch.

The Canadiens crushed the Oilers 5-on-5 but they were no match for the refs 19-on-2.

As MSL said, they lost but they weren’t beaten.

Here’s the Call Of The Wilde for Global Montreal.

Love reading these after wins Brian! You might want to correct the reference to the Nashville winner though! And also, one bone to pick with you saying St. Louis had no coaching experience before being hired. I believe they plucked him out of coaching his son's pee-wee hockey team :)

Call of the Wilde: Montreal Canadiens bounce back, snatch 3-2 OT win over Nashville - Montreal | Globalnews.ca The record would solidify thoughts that this is a club on the upswing and for real β€” and they are. Brian Wilde has more.

The Cardiac Kids come through with 20 seconds left in regulation and 2 seconds left in overtime.

What a thriller.

Here’s the Call Of The Wilde for Global Montreal.

I know you're not. Just saying I'm not going to as long as they're winning (as I passive-aggressively do).

I think Dobes is a better goalie. But not going to crap on Monty or the team with a 3-1 start.

Nice to read the first of hopefully many Call of the Wilde columns that follow Habs wins this year. While it's likely you're on point with Laine, Marty has done wonders reinventing Andy and Gally. I'd give it some time still with Laine. He seems to want to be here.

Hey @stucowangazette.bsky.social enjoyed this story, like most of your pieces. One note - I believe you forgot Rogie Vachon in the list of former Habs goalies who are in the Hall of Fame!

Love Heaven is a Playground. Great book and a friend and I used to watch the movie on repeat back in the day. Bo Kimble, movie star.

Same. And in that particular commercial, his very punchable faced co-star does as well.

Sorry @bwildemtl.bsky.social, it looks like things just aren't working for your Oilers. Time to tear it down and rebuild. That starts next week with Draisaitl and McDavid for all Habs picks in this year's draft, Mailloux, Roy, Beck, Dach, Newhook and Dobes. You heard it here first! lol

Got impaled by a neighbour's poorly-constructed homemade for sale sign catching a foul fly ball playing 2 vs 2 street baseball when I was in high school. Just missed puncturing my lung, was very bloodied, required a tetanus shot, but...I made the catch!

Pending trades and signings i can see that trio being a solid third line in a couple of years (and Tuch-Xhekaj-Davidson a solid 4th line).

If this is the final of the season, thanks for the work you put into these and for sharing your insight. Might be in the minority but I'm not ready to write Laine off yet. He seemed slower than usual (so don't think he was ever 100%) and he actually seemed to be trying to evolve his game to me.

Rip the reffing, fine. But for a young team expected to finish near the bottom of the league to be dragged into the playoffs largely by their young core and making things hard on the 1st place team in all 4 games, leave the players alone and enjoy every minute they give us these playoffs.

If I wanted to not see anything I would have paid $3000 to do so in the upper deck at the Bell Centre

Nice to be reading COTWs in the playoffs and better when they give you reason to be positive. Can't believe I'm with you on Dvorak after not wanting him since he got here. Speaking of Hutson's genius not enough people talking about that check he evaded coming his way in the dzone last night!

Call of the Wilde: Canadiens show lots of fight in Game 3 win over Capitals - Montreal | Globalnews.ca The Montreal Canadiens took advantage of the series switching back to Bell Centre and swarmed the Washington Capitals all game long for an impressive Game 3 victory.

Perhaps the Montreal Canadiens best work of the season.

A wild atmosphere and a dominating win over the Capitals with key injuries added.

All in this Call Of The Wilde for Global Montreal.

Aside from his goal Ovechkin was invisible tonight and probably wished he was literally on that play after Hutson embarassed him.

I agree he still has levels to go up but he was solid tonight. Active, some good looks. His pressure led to the turnover on the Suzuki goal. And he just turned 21. He is going to be a beast in a few years.
