It was only broken by his wife’s sudden exclamation, “Do you think it’s daddy issues if I think your dad is hot?”

he gave his mother a deadly smile, his hand on Granger’s waist flexed, drawing his mother’s gaze to the ring on his finger, “Mother, meet my wife, Hermione Granger-Malfoy.”

The silence following his statement was deafening, his mother looked dumbstruck.

God he loved his witch, but she was a total lightweight. He took the drink from her hand and said, “I know darling, I found her,” he gestured to his mother sitting right infront of them.

She was wearing a tantalising red dress, that she kept having to adjust, incase she accidentally flashed someone.

“Dray-co, shhhh, I have to tell you something,” she said in comically loud whisper, face utterly serious

Draco jaw clenched from holding back a scathing retort, and merely replied, “I only promised I’d attend, Mother. I already sacrificed my life once for this family, and refuse to do so again.”

He never got to hear his mother’s reply, because in that moment a fully drunk and scandalously

She currently sat opposite him, not exactly scolding him, no Narcissa Malfoy would never do something so vulgar in public, but she was close to her breaking point.

“Draco, you know how important it is to regain our standing in society. You need to do your part for our family, as you promised.”

His mother had guilted him into attending the Ministry’s annual Valentine’s Ball, hoping that he would use the ball as an opportunity to court Astoria Greengrass.

He had agreed to his Mother’s request to attend, but refused to entertain Astoria or any other pureblood his mother insisted he court.
