Again, I don’t know expect anyone to give them kudos, become friends, or forgive. Not for a second. I’m not even asking you to work with them. Leave that to those of us who can handle it because we aren’t in marginalized groups that have been attacked.

I ask you not to attack them because THEY OWE YOU! Because they owe you and others like you to do the work to undo some of the harm they have caused. And if we chase them off with our anger (our justified anger) they will stop right there. They won’t work further. They won’t help.

All they did was open their eyes after perpetuating harm. And I’m not asking you to befriend them. YOU don’t owe them anything!

But I am asking you not to berate them. It will be hard. Especially if you are from a marginalized group that has been actively harmed by Trump and MAGA.

They are a target for all the anger and sadness and fear we have been feeling. How dare they come around NOW! 10 seconds before fascism descends on us all.

I’m not asking you to congratulate them or pat them on the back. They probably don’t deserve that.

I know, dunking on them is more fun. It’s cathartic to unleash all the rage we have been holding on. “How could it take you this long?!!! You helped create this mess!!!” They are a target for all the anger and sadness and fear we have been feeling.

I see it happening. Every day there’s a new sign the fever is breaking. A lifelong Rep saying they are thinking of voting for an Ind or Dem. Someone on social media who previously was silent calling out ICE or Trump’s racism. Former MAGA members declaring they can’t do it anymore.
