13.11.2025 05:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ahh so cool. I should pay more attention to @blaine.bsky.social. Iβm sure he explained this at some point.

02.08.2025 20:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Week and half ago against the Brewers. 1-0.
10-2 doesnβt sound any better. 10-9 is what weβre looking for. Or the playoffs.
It just seems very low consequence in the mid season. Even the players look bored to be there.
Iβm curious if anyone sees what Iβm posting here on Bluesky?
If youβre not interested thatβs cool, but itβs another thing if youβre just not seeing it.
Seriously? No takers?

02.08.2025 00:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 05οΈβ£ Addressing climate resilience in contested regions requires acknowledging the complex role of non-state actors, carefully negotiating aid access, and rethinking climate finance delivery.
Resilience isn't just about statesβit's about who actually governs in places most affected by climate stress.
4οΈβ£ Ignoring rebel governance risks blind spots in climate assessments and resource allocation.
Yet engagement poses ethical and legal dilemmas, including legitimizing armed groups or violating sovereignty.
3οΈβ£ Environmental stresses like drought or agricultural collapse make grievances worse, making space for rebel groups to exert authority.
Somalia's Al-Shabaab is a good example. They've imposed bans on charcoal to address degradationβbut their enforcement is coercive, to put it mildly.
2οΈβ£ These actions aren't purely altruistic.
Rebel groups are making money, gaining political influence, and gathering civilian support by being better stewards than government.
Interestingly, they also fill critical gaps left by weak states, which enhances local resilience to climate impacts.
1οΈβ£ Nearly half of rebel groups active since 1989 have engaged in environmental governanceβregulating land, water, forests, and even climate displacement.
I'm talking Taliban's water projects (although not rebels but the larger point stands) to former FARC members protecting forests in Columbia.
So this caught my attention this morning:

In Myanmar's Kachin State, the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) regulates timber harvesting, manages land use, and supports local climate adaptation efforts.
Here's why I think it matters π§΅π
Hoi!

Damn, for a game where the top player is making $700 million in a ten year contract, Baseball is remarkably boring.
Thank God for good friends. And beer.
In the spirit of βInnovation without frontiersβ at the PNWER conference, we went all over the map β climate risk, adaptation, AI, Trump and tariffs, the state of VC capital, Robots, Cascadia.

When risks go up, losses go up, prices go up.
Adaptation to reduce vulnerability can help.
But as long as carbon emissions continue, risk will continue to rise.
