That's a wrap on the Marathon Server Slam for me. Excited for launch day. I'm new to the genre, but now that I understand the gameplay loop and losing loot doesn't hurt as much because you can get so much of it, I'm really excited to play and learn more.

Marathon ain't going to be for everyone and that's totally fine.

As a new extraction player I find it highly engaging and fun. This was my understanding of Marathon's gameplay loop. I'm sure I missed something but feel free to add-on.

5) The natural progression of the story contracts and need for materials for upgrades, in addition to the desire for loot keeps you coming back if you find it enjoyable. Also upgrades and higher tier loot feel impactful therefore valuable to chase.

4) While on the map you also want to participate in PvE events, and obj to earn higher tier loot. You can also engage in PvP or hope for RnG drops from UESC.

2) Head to that location while staying alert for players and UESC along the way. Natural PvEvP engagements and looting will occur.

3) Extract with loot, completed obj. Level up, and complete Codex obj along the way to earn more rewards/caches (not limited to extracting)

My understanding of Marathon's Gameplay loop so far. (Feel free to add-on or revise)

1) Join a Faction that gives upgrades or access to gear you desire. Track materials needed to complete obj and drop into location that has what you need.
