I remember a flat in Glasgow which still had lead gas pipes to supply the gas lights.
I imagine that town gas was installed for that purpose and for the gas cooker. Some also had gas pokers to light the coal fire so gas was fed to the hearth. But it would probably be for better off houses only.

I started taking a picture a day when I turned 30 in 2015. 3654 pictures later I loaded them all up and made a time lapse video. Nearly 2 and a half minutes of me getting fat bald and depressed. Never deleted something quicker. What a waste of time and effort.
