When so many of your policies are decided by corruption there isnt a lot else you can talk about.

Good news
05.08.2025 14:09 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0No party is offering really popular policies like full employment, nationalisation of utilities, building council housing etc. The super rich wouldn't like that, or pay for it.So only racism has any traction.
05.08.2025 13:56 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Really good way to put it: "taxes on Americans who buy imports"๐๐
05.08.2025 13:08 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0How quickly we forget that virtually every day of the last parliament a minister seemed to be in trouble for one thing or the other

05.08.2025 10:57 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I can see why they do this though. At a time when no party offers credible policies that people want, its the racists who will have the motivation to come out and vote. This is what gave us Brexit (high turnout of people who dont normally vote)
05.08.2025 10:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Buts it's just silly anyway. If one person has so much ยฃยฃ and vast numbers can't afford to buy his product, what is the point?

05.08.2025 09:20 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Super important, if @nhsengland.bsky.social isn't interested as not "prioritising population health surveys in its long-term strategic work plan" (err, sickness to prevention anyone?) who? DHSC central budget? Alternatives will break the series, pretty dreadful www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
05.08.2025 09:06 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0For one thing, only HSE can show us, on a representative sample, the trends in those illnesses must strongly linked to economic inactivity. Are these conditions getting more frequent or are they becoming more disabling? It goes back to 1992!

Some historians would call this "3rd periodism" but in a way I hope Reform does win. I would expose them
04.08.2025 13:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0US households tend to be too optimistic about their future job prospects. This bias leads to worse financial decisions over the life course and contributes to wealth inequality.

04.08.2025 13:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Well, it was lucky in the sense that the publishers were very happy to have new editions rather than having to think up something totally new๐ค. It now has a 3rd edition but that was only possible by finding a fantastic younger scholar to share the work with.
04.08.2025 13:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A rising % of women have higher or further education & full time jobs so,can live independently. Women are no longer forced to do the emotional work for these vulnerable men. In my family at least 2 of the men had severe postwar PTSD but were supported by wives who felt they had a duty to do so.

04.08.2025 11:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0As I remember it (just read Keegan's article) Brown transferred control of BoE away from govts so that they could no longer produce pre-election booms to get people to vote them back in. Something the Labour Party never got the hang of but Tories did every time.
