In Trump’s America, the shooting of a journalist is not a one-off. Press freedom itself is under attack
A rubber bullet to Channel Nine reporter Lauren Tomasi’s leg signals media freedom in the US is again under attack.
Agree with Peter. I saw the escalation of this issue in Chavez's Venezuela. We see it now under the 'Apprentice autocrat' show in the US. Freedom of expression and Information are fundamental rights to keep Apprentice autocrats accountable and in their own place.

The world needs more Cory Booker’s civil, truly democratic, sensitive gestures, and less (or no) insulting, divisive, disruptive, uncivil, selfish, money-driven, narcissistic MAGA rhetoric and insensitive actions.

A horrifying blow to free speech and free thinking… 1984 and Big Brother are a reality - billionaires and intolerant so called leaders are trying to hold and maintain power at all costs…

Sorry for the self promotion, but this book, my research, is more relevant than ever. Venezuelans know how, step by step, an autocrat converted democracy into a dictatorship - the first step was to bypass and then change the constitution - the rest is history, surreal history…Scary!

Bishop Mariann Budde tells NPR 'I won't apologize' for sermon addressing Trump
The Episcopal bishop of Washington spoke with NPR to discuss her sermon addressing President Trump and why she asked him to have mercy.
"To be united as a country with so many riches of diversity, we need mercy. We need compassion. We need empathy." … "I don't feel there's a need to apologize for a request for mercy." ….I won't apologize for what I said."

Thousands rally at People’s March in D.C. to protest Trump
Organizers hope that the People’s March will inspire protesters to turn their passions, outrage and fears into collective opposition.
Interesting - the coverage was rather timid but the demonstrations were important … ‘Organizers hope that the People’s March will inspire protesters to turn their passions, outrage and fears into collective opposition.’…

Beautiful to read a real paper & ink book. Especially when you are chapter coauthor with Latin American linguist-discourse legend, Adriana Bolivar. The text is called The Latin American political discourse, on The Routledge Handbook of Political Communication in Ibero-America. Cheers!
