I'm as big a fan of private weathertech as anyone, but these aren't the backbone of our weather observations. There's also a definite overpromise/underdeliver as far as operational utility. This isn't to minimize the important work, but it's unfair to characterize the extras as a viable replacement.

Just a wild evolution, what I'm guessing(?) is breakdown induced by the highly contracted vortex in the first photo

Full video edit of the Watertown, #SDwx tornado up. It's rare I get a "video tornado" these days. This is the first time I've had chase video up within a week since...before grad school.

Fought through corn and trees for this view of yesterday's stunner drillbit tornado just west of Watertown, #SDwx.

Said another way. What's likely happening is theyβre trying to convince Lutnick that flying a bunch of dishwashers with GoPro on them is the same as highly sophisticated, durable, calibrated instrumentation.

Yes, people need to understand that the fact that USWRP and PAR are moved to NWS just keeps those budgets in tact. NSSL and GSL are being eliminated just like all of the other OAR labs.

NANCY PELOSI: We must find the next generation of Democratic leadership. Young, charismatic and exciting candidates who can energize the party. People that voters love because they're not 80 years old and sold out to big capital.

Critical meteorological satellite data terminated
Meanwhile, Eastern heat dome slowly shrinks
We are losing access to key weather satellite data important for hurricane forecasting. But remember when we said that computer models were less reliant on balloons because they now use satellite data? Well, this is some of that satellite data and we're losing it.

I've seen folks talk about how "in four years" they'll be able to get back to their planned projects and I really don't think that's going to work out. People & projects losing funding now will not be able to hit pause and come back once funding is restored. Hard-won progress & capacity will be lost
