Wake up in the morning to a very nice rejection call and then two more rejection emails in fast succession… it’s the thought that counts (they like me but won’t hire me)

I’m not sure jobs actually want to hire people anymore. Timelines either no longer exist or are 8-12 weeks long, even for urgent roles. I’ve hired hundreds of people and never witnessed this kind of hostile applicant environment in my life.

A recruiter shut me down because I had the temerity to call and ask how quickly their client was looking to hire. She wouldn’t answer with a timeline, just repeated “when they find the right person” twice. So I sent in my CV and she sent me a rejection. It was verbatim a job I’ve held before.

I think being unemployed for more than a year is the worst place I have been mentally ever, which is insane when I think about how badly I was treated at two previous workplaces. I guess having steady income gave me more mental health cushioning than I imagined.
