Full disclosure.
I do make family shows.
I donβt get direct funding.
(Iβve tried.)
I just canβt do the fake messaging that people tell me they bolt on to get over the funding application line. It makes me fold personally.
Good luck to them - we all need work!
Where is the space for pure joy?
If that is the case - where did that come from?
Iβm aware of the great TIE revolution of the late 20th century but why is it all pervasive?
Is the a Reading for Pleasure, ie Theatre for Pleasure message needed?
Are we excluding people from the world of live theatre and culture because of it?
Genuine question for family friendly theatre makers.
I get the impression that the funded arts sector requires one outcome of going to the theatre is to learn something.
Or have a big world concept reaffirmed.
Is this the only thing theatre and culture should be?

Sadly , post lockdown - live shows are becoming less and less viable for so many performers - I have many friends , critically revered and fabulous , who are seeing huge drops in their ability to sell - the mainstream dominates - the arenas lap up money and numbers

3) WELL HALL BOGGART
"Well Hall, near Clitheroe, had a boggart of a sociable disposition, who used to keep an old woman company by the fireside on long winter nights. Although friendly towards the old woman, he is claimed to have once chained a man to the wall in his temper."
