In short; it is a hard nut to crack and one that can be cracked with commitment, coordination and central goverment involvement.

Yeah, just read that and enjoyed it. All eyes on who gets Cabinet Secretary and how much reforming energy they have.

Ive been using Roam for 4 years now. I’ve had a very similar feeling of it fitting my brain.

What is clear is how closely MPs have studied this legislation. There is genuine collaboration on possible amendments, engagement with the smallest detail and deep consultation with constituents.

If only it could always be like this!

Massive shout out to @jukes.ie and @debblanch44.bsky.social for running Product for the People yesterday. It felt very real-talk, open and honest. There was a good spread of "generations" in the room too. Its lovely to have a space that engenders collective sprit and has a bit of hope. A+

It’s that broad sense that ends up with Elon, DOGE and tear it all down frustrations.

To paraphrase - someone very skilled and technical recently told me about [department] -´no one with technical skills wants to work there because they won’t be listened to or really get to change anything’ and that they avoid applying for a policy jobs as ‘they want preppy KPMG types’

Keep activist Ministers in post for extended periods of time, more political appointments, reform the civil service (focus on DGs, skillsets, pay and incentive structures) and offer £££ of core funding grants to thirds sector adjacent organisations with skilled technicians who create public value.
