I've known multiple people in the military who were actually, literally homeless before taking the express lane to the middle class that the military gives you. There is no better way in this country to move from poverty to stability than joining the military.

Lack of a good snowpack means we're at greater risk in CO/NM for fires, especially because of strong winds common at this time of year. If we don't start getting good snow soon, this could be a really bad fire year.

I remember when I moved to El Paso both my grandparents were convinced I was moving to a warzone. It had the double whammy of being a scary city AND right next to Mexico. Instead it was a safer and nicer (people wise) city than Colorado Springs at times.
