Back in June, we loaded up six tonnes of refurbished tools at our HQ in Southampton, each one carefully restored by our amazing volunteers. They’re now en-route to Malawi, where they’ll be used to support local tradespeople and training programmes that help people build sustainable livelihoods and working futures!

Rod co-founded the Bristol Tools for Self Reliance volunteer group back in 2001, starting out in the Kingswood Heritage Museum. In 2002, they produced their very first kit - a small joinery kit with 21 tools sent to Zimbabwe. Since those early days, the Bristol group has gone from strength to strength, producing over 240 kits and refurbishing nearly 17,000 tools, many with Rod’s dedicated involvement. It’s a fantastic example of the impact local volunteer groups can have!
