It has been an exciting Saturday! The #ProjectMonarch story has been featured twice on @npr.org today - once during the #BBCWeekend newscast this morning, and once during #WaitWaitDontTellMe during the Limerick Challenge! Here's a sick visualization by #CapeMayArtsAndScienceCenter 's Sean Burcher!

How do you track an animal that weighs 0.5g?
With #WildlifeTech that weighs almost nothing at all.
The #BlΕ«Morpho is the smallest wildlife transmitter ever deployed on a #MonarchButterfly built in Cape May, NJ.
Tiny tag, huge leap for migration science.

A scientific milestone once considered impossible.
Huge gratitude to all of our partners from 2023 to today: #CMPASC, #MotusWTS, @birdscanada.bsky.social, @xercessociety.bsky.social and the incredible community of researchers who made this dream real. We've only just begun! πŸ¦‹

Since 2012, we've tracked 250+ bald eagles (146 as nestlings)! One female, originally caught in OK and now grown up and nesting in KS, is now heading north. In winter, eagles feed on gut piles, risking lead poisoning from ammo. Hunters can help by switching to lead-free.
