Because apparently I needed yet ANOTHER project, inspiration and opportunity struck at the Greenberg show this weekend- and I have a plan.

Maybe I can actually finish it before the next Christmas train show.

Given the current diplomatic souring between Japan and China, it is important to remember that the event is celebrated in the hope that friendship continues between the people of both countries. This message is clear from the off as visitors pass through the "gate of friendship".

Lanterns, inspired by Buddhist stories and Chinese fables, cover the grounds of the temple from late autumn to early winter.
Made by Chinese craftsmen, the lanterns consist of metal frames covered with satin fabric. The festival began initially to mark the 350th anniversary of Ingen's death.

Ingen (隱元隆琦) is thought to have introduced many things to Japan from the mainland, including green beans, watermelons, lotus roots, the Ming Dynasty style of writing, Buddhist cuisine, and sencha tea.
He would deeply influence Japanese society as well as religion.

Chinese dragon lanterns...each one if made from thousands of tiny glass bottles, which are then embellished with material and lit from within.

Manpuku-ji (萬福寺) in Uji, home to the Ōbaku Zen sect (黄檗宗), was founded in 1661 by the Chinese monk Yinyuan Longqi (隱元隆琦 aka Ingen Ryūki 1592-1673).
It is considered to be Japan's greatest Chinese-style temple.

Kyōto has many light-up events during the autumn, but Manpuku-ji's is something to behold.
As one might expect from one of the country's few Chinese-style temples, the colourful lanterns are heavily influenced by festivals on the mainland.

Been a while since I'd shown one of my builds, eh? Work caught up with me for the past couple of weeks, but I finally got around to put this awesome frame of the SNAA Titan Greatsword Tristan (The Round Table Knights series).

It is so detailed. I must paint it. It needs colour.

Funny that enough people consider Speen to be purple while there's no actual purple in her palette. The power of gradients in design.

Kairen carries Atlas along a path on the edge of the island. They are surrounded by the forest and butterflies. Kairen has a confident expression while Atlas wears a more nervous one.

The original idea of this was Atlas being nervous of heights despite being from space but I think it's a better idea for him to be surprised as Kairen can pick him up pretty easily. xD

Ghost Hunters is a fantastic show! The investigators always try out sensible way to debunk "spooky" things, so you sometimes see them do funny things for the sake of proving that it wasn't a ghost that made the spooky noise.

I did not, actually! I don't really watch a lot of contemporary shows. xD In fact, I'm watching a marathon of Ghost Hunters, which spanned from 2004-2012. I've been watching it for the past 4 days-

This feels Stranger Things-like if I ever seen one, primarily because of the colours in the background with all the bare trees. It also looks electrifying!

Oh my, using gouache now? This looks amazing! I think I remember seeing this mystery space lady many many months ago (I think over two years?), but it's been so long that I might as well continue to be in awe at how the colours blend together.
