Untreated ADHD is costing the UK about £39bn, the Government spends about £0.5bn a year treating it, but that is apparently too much.

Treating it properly would cost about £2bn but would save nearly £15bn

Instead less than 1 in 20 people over 40 with it have an actual diagnosis

Apart from be a Principal of a multi site special school I used to go into main stream schools to advise on curriculum, adaptations and removing barriers to learning. The words ‘we can’t’ were quite often used by leadership. Demonstrating that they ‘can’ and ‘must’ was my job.

I delivered my first session of my new training on Understanding and Supporting Parental Challenge and SEND Parents in Liverpool this week (working title)

We certainly have! We’re in Derbyshire and they’re one of the worst LA’s. Whatever we’ve achieved, we’ve done ourselves and overcome too much adversity. We need accountability to the laws to support our most vulnerable, as opposed to gaslighting and ghosting! 💔

What a journey you have been on. So many parents/carers do not get the support they and their children need. I’m regularly talking to parents to support then in finding their way through the SEND system.
