and I'm not even trying to say they're inscrutable or whatever, just the assumption that they're running through the same steps all the time is intensely aloof

Results might be similar but it doesn't mean everyone's sitting around, accepting their apparent ceiling, farting on snare drums, shrugging like there's nothing else they can do

I don't follow the other sports like I follow baseball so I'm not sure if this is true for them too, but one thing that seems not to get through to many fans is just how many guys keep trying to improve, regardless of what you get to see
