SSR42 is a novel regulator of cytolytic activity in Staphylococcus aureus | mBio Staphylococcus aureus is a master pathogen due to its formidable collection of virulence factors. These are tightly controlled by a diverse group of regulators that titrate their abundance to adapt to unique infectious niches. The role of regulatory RNAs ...

Super excited to finally have this out! We characterized SSR42 as a novel RNA-based regulator of cytotoxicity in S. aureus. It is capable of responding to a host-like environment to activate the leukocidin LukAB and mediate neutriphil interactions. Check it out! journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/...

Nanopore sequencing set to transform our understanding of proteins Rapid sequencing technique can not only deal with proteins hundreds of amino acids long but can detect modifications

A new protein sequencing method, which uses a biological motor to pull a protein through a tiny nanopore, could revolutionise protein analysis.

Scratching promotes allergic inflammation and host defense via neurogenic mast cell activation Itch is a dominant symptom in dermatitis, and scratching promotes cutaneous inflammation, thereby worsening disease. However, the mechanisms through which scratching exacerbates inflammation and wheth...

Why scratching makes a rash worse and a potential benefit to scratching--it reduced S. aureus on skin. Andrew Liu's paper from our lab is out now at #science #neuroimmune #immunology www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
