Ironbridge in Transition: Industrial Archaeology & Heritage in the Gorge Enters New Era On the 2nd March 2026 the ten Ironbridge industrial musuems, 400,000 archives & collections, and 35 monuments and listed buildings will transfer to the ownership of the National Trust. These sites have been run by the Ironbridge Gorge Musuem Trust since 1967 and tell the story of the birth and development of global industrialisation. This is a move designed to secure their long-term future and success, and the UK Government has invested £9m from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport in supporting the transfer. The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, formed in 1967 by a group of enthusiatic volunteers, and lying within the Ironbridge Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site, was one of the UK's largest independent museums and the custodian of some of the nation's most significant industrial heritage.

Amazing photo from latest torc update showing intricacy of this gorgeous torc!

Look at the decoration! The hammered ends of broken loop! The ?applied wire! The worn terminal ends!

We need this #torc in a museum to study in detail!
