Being a cataloging librarian is very tedious sometimes but if it wasn't for us, you wouldn't be able to find books in the library catalog and they wouldn't be labeled properly on the shelf so I'll keep reminding myself what I do really does matter.

So, one of many things you don't seem aware of is that in research, it's not just gathering what you were looking for, it's running into what you weren't looking for. Falling down rabbit holea is an absolutely critical part of the process. This won't do that because YOU have to make connections.
