We watched Rental Family tonight. We both liked it but felt it would have been more compelling as a documentary. Like Mistress Dispeller, which I highly recommend and is available on Criterion now. I saw it at AFS Doc Days last year.

Aimee Mann put on a terrific show at the Paramount tonight. I guess Lost in Space really is 22 1/2 years old. Weโre all getting old. Great album, though Iโve always been partial to Bachelor No. 2.

But itโs little comfort as the lawlessness and corruption gets worse and worse. Anyway, Iโll be watching tonight just because itโs historic. Itโll be torture.

A Flower Traveled in My Blood: The Incredible True Story of the Grandmothers Who Fought to Find a Stolen Generation of Children by Haley Cohen Gilliland is narrative journalism at its best. Thank you to my friend, Corrie, for recommending it and to her father-in-law for recommending it to her.

The freedom to read is so important. Librarians are not criminals for doing their job. They are guardians of intellectual freedom. Hoping this measure fails.

Nope. Forgotten by tomorrow.
Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. Itโs always a matter of will not resources.

Measles is a bellwether. Because itโs the most contagious vaccine-preventable disease, when vaccination rates drop, itโs the first to start spreading.
Now weโve got mumps rolling up.
Expect more.
