America has a housing affordability crisis. Building houses for rent can help Developers are building more single-family houses for renting. That can lower prices for both renters and buyers.

An alternate prospective on firms renting out homes. I don't think it would work in Verona because we don't really have cheap and easy land to develop where this would make sense financially. www.npr.org/2026/03/04/n...

Yeah, we use CivicPlus. We've raised it with them, but haven't really gotten anywhere.

Is there a way encourage the digital archiving services that local gov'ts use to include Bluesky? I'm on here, but I'm not sure the City of Verona (Wisconsin) can join because our digital archiving service doesn't support Bluesky (we need to preserve records for open records requests).

One time either I or HR Block made a mistake in my tax filings and the IRS sent me a bill for the remainder + plus a small penalty. They know how much we owe! Just send a bill. Having to pay HR Block on top of all that is just so so so obnoxious.

I have no idea why the Madison Metro School District is so reluctant to fire people. Firing people can be a very unpleasant process and I don't like it, but sometimes you just have to fire people because it's the right thing to do or for accountability and ensuring basic public trust.

I know people mock food posting, but I love seeing people post their lunch or something they made or whatever. Food posting is great.

If you can, vote in person, whether it's day of or voting early if your community has early voting (Verona does).

I know it sounds like bragging, but dealing with the fact that so many people want to live here because of things like jobs or the great school system, creates upward pressure on housing prices which makes the City less affordable - that's a challenge.

Glad that Firefox rolled this control out. I wonder if there's a threshold of people picking block AI enhancements where they'll just give up on it.

I tend to think it's too early to mean much and it'll change once advertising money gets spent, but I think Hong has to be pretty happy with her numbers.
