I'm sitting here without gas or hot water for the 4th time in 3 weeks, having attended 6 rental inspections over the past 3 days that have all been attended by at least 20 other people & then having to hand over a scary amount of personal & financial info to 3rd party websites to submit applications

I pay an exorbitant amount of rent for an apartment with 3 rooms (bedroom, bathroom/laundry, living/dining/kitchen), where the gas & hot water go out whenever the wind gets over 10km/h & there's no affordable places left in Adelaide to move to & buying is about to become even more unattainable 🙃

It's such a bizarre way to address problems, isn't it? An endless cycle of expensive reviews and inquiries, all of which are ignored in the hope that no real work or change has to occur.

How much did UTS spend on the FOUR reviews into their handling of sexual assault reports since 2022?

What did it cost for them to do not one, not two, not three, but FOUR reviews in three years, just to ignore the recommendations and continue causing harm to their students?

God, how I loathe the "if we just share our stories" narrative

Sending strength and solidarity to Mia Campbell, Hailey, Holly and other students who have been impacted by UTS's deliberate indifference. You deserve better.

University of Technology Sydney has shown none of those things in its responses to students - and an endless cycle of reviews won't change that when it simply chooses to ignore recommendations and responds to being called out with pathetic mealy-mouthed statements.

Responding to students who report gender-based violence in a manner that is trauma-informed, fair, and that supports them to successfully continue their education isn't hard. It was never hard. It's only ever required understanding, flexibility, and simple decency

Being a renter in Australia means handing over an unnecessary amount of personal data to real estate agents who have no clue - and who often don't care - how to keep that data secure. Many can't tell you how it's stored, who can access it and when/if it gets destroyed

Copies of multiple forms of ID, address history, employment history, and financial information that was about what I had to provide for a mortgage application. Then, once you become a tenant, they take photos of the property and all your possessions during inspections
