Secretary Fontes sat down with the Men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to discuss ways to empower their community in civic engagement, honoring the legacy of those who fought for equal access of the right to vote for future generations.

Honoring the metal that put Arizona on the map at the Arizona Copper Art Museum in Clarkdale. Secretary Fontes explored this great museum and discuss AZ America250 opportunities to support historical, cultural, and community engagement efforts across Arizona.

PRESS RELEASE: Statement from Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes on FBI Midterm Elections Briefing

This Black History Month, make sure your voice will be heard in the 2026 midterm election by registering to vote at azsos.gov.

When Black Americans cast their ballots, they are protecting and building a future where justice is the right of all people. The fight for social justice has always been closely tied to the right to vote and always will be.

Secretary Fontes had the opportunity to share lunch with students from the NAU for the online Election Administration Certification. This meeting provided an opportunity for discussion about the current election year and how to we can best prepare to safeguard and support democratic processes.

Arizona Revised Statute 16-515 Section B is clear:

“… No person shall be allowed to remain inside these limits while the polls are open, except for the purpose of voting, and except the election officials … A person violating any provision of this notice is guilty of a class 2 misdemeanor.” (2/2)

This bill would open the door to voter intimidation, not only of our newest citizens that may have come from violent non-democratic counties, but also every day citizens that have seen tragic videos of other ICE interactions. (3/4)

By running SB1570, Senator Hoffman is acknowledging that federal immigration officers are not allowed to interfere at voting centers or polling places currently. (2/4)

Current Arizona state law only allows voters and those running the election within the 75-foot perimeter of a voting location to ensure safety and security. (1/4)

While Republicans in the legislature move to end voting by mail, my office put forward the Voters First Act which would restore PEVL & secure mail-in voting for the more than 80% of voters who utilize this option in Arizona. (2/2)

“As written and given final Senate approval on a 17-13 party-line vote, the measure also puts language in the Arizona Constitution allowing lawmakers at some future date to eliminate mail-in voting entirely.”
