It's time for Washington to hear us.

When it comes to the grave question of when to go to war, Trump and many in Congress continue to ignore the will of the majority of American voters. The American people do not want another war that could cost countless lives and drain multiple governments of scarce resources.

But they do so without the support of top Democratic and Republican leaders, who continue to back Israel no matter what the cost is to America or people across the Middle East.

Thankfully, Members of Congress like Republican Thomas Massie and Democrat Ro Khanna have introduced War Powers legislation to block Trump's war.

Instead of listening to voters and rallying their opposition to a U.S. war with Iran, Schumer and Jeffries acted like a wet blanket and undercut the possibility of strong congressional opposition.

After Israel began bombing Iran, both Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries rushed to Israel's defense.

While Americans in both political parties oppose a U.S.-Iran war, key Democrats and Republicans in Congress continue to rubber-stamp the agenda of Netanyahu, AIPAC, and their allies in the U.S.

Trump's terrible decision was enabled by top Republicans and Democrats in Congress who failed to listen to the majorities of voters who oppose a U.S. war with Iran.

Trump has twice now sabotaged constructive efforts to make a deal with Iran and prevent an Iranian nuclear weapons program. First, Trump sabotaged the JCPOA deal crafted during the Obama Administration. Then, Trump sabotaged his own negotiations with Iran by joining Israel's war.

Trump, like former President Joe Biden before him, was already providing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with military support for Israel's genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Now Trump is bringing America directly into Israel's war against the Iranian government and its citizens.

U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to bomb Iran is a profoundly foolish act that brings America into a reckless Middle East war of Israel's choosing. Despite the horrors of the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, it seems that policymakers in Washington have learned absolutely nothing.
