If I were a head of state, I would think setting a precedent that assassination is a legitimate tool of state competition would be unwise

Fascism wants you to believe that you are alone. That you are isolated. That the feelings you have are yours and nobody else has them because everybody is too afraid to speak.

But love is stronger than fascism. Community is stronger than fascism.

i don't particularly disagree with a lot of the critiques of anarchist activism by liberals but I bristle when they act as if their best practices are any wiser. we're here because none of us figured out how to avoid being here.

I think it's important for believers to speak out: something in my heart breaks to see people who claim to follow Christ perform idolatry by defending the structures of power—of violence, of empire, of fearful injustice—that crucified him and which He died to defeat.

There are a lot of men out there who do not see any of the logistics happening around them and they're like "wait, where the fuck did these hand warmers come from?"

Look at every kid wearing mittens, and that's your answer. From the people who have been silently keeping hands warm for centuries.

Alex Pretti’s last words were “are you ok?” said the woman next to him who ICE also pepper sprayed in the face.

Does anyone have any idea how we break the echo chambers? No Trump voter in my family will ever know what actually happened to Alex Pretti or Renee Good. They will believe the officers were justified. They will watch Fox News and that will be the end of it.

I hope Democratic senators and congressmen understand, out of pure lizard-brain self-interest if moral decency happens to be unavailable, what is at stake for them if they don't handle this the right way. This is a true "If not now, when?" moment.

The Republican position now appears to be that you have a constitutional right to openly carry a gun in public, unless you do so while expressing a view that the government dislikes, in which case the secret police can shoot you to death on the spot.

Too obvious a point even to make, perhaps. But there was no “unrest” in Minneapolis before ICE and CBP showed up. ICE and CBP are the cause of the chaos…and the killings.

Get them out of there.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

So I watched the shooting video frame by frame and it looks like:

1) They were beating a struggling man with batons

2) His jacket opened revealing a gun in his waistband or lower back

3) The agent in gray grabbed the gun and was walking away

4) THEN the other agents shot the man in the back

Yesterday, Minneapolis gave us hope. That’s what they’re trying to kill: the will of a people who are willing to fight them.

An NYT headline reads “Federal Officers Shoot Person in Minneapolis”

It has gotten so bad that the @nytimes.com has stopped using the passive voice to describe the violence.

I think they might mistake our courage and our solidarity for a lack of fear, and that if they can make us scared enough we'll make ourselves small. That won't work, because we're all terrified and we're SHOWING UP ANYWAY with love and compassion and joy and care.

Why aren't you there? Protestors are showing incredible bravery in the face of repeated extrajudicial executions: and you're…asking the fascists to be less fascist?

A secret police force is murdering people in broad daylight on the streets of American cities. I’m not saying it’s unprecedented. I’m saying it’s unacceptable.

ICE just gunned down ANOTHER person, beating a man half to death before shooting him at point blank range. What the fuck are we doing?

ARREST ICE NOW. PROSECUTE ICE NOW.

I will not rest until every single one of these murderers is held accountable to the communities they terrorize.

Why is Dem leadership not on the ground in MN? If the answer is “polls show Trump’s disapproval is only -15 on deportations, but -25 on prices,” thats a Bad Use Of Polling and a complete failure in their capacity as leaders to lead public opinion and fight for democracy and the rule of law

“Everyone should be allowed to carry a gun for their safety but the government can murder you in the street if you have a gun” is an incredible endpoint for the conservative moment

centrists like to use terminology disputes as a proxy battle for actual policy fights, and engaging is often fruitless. if you don’t like the slogan use something else. but the agency needs to be hollowed out, every existing agent needs to be put on no-hire lists, and there need to be prosecutions.

A new flavor of fear, as the involutions of the chaos cascade spiral ever inward toward greater crisis. Summary execution by ICE of a downed victim is neither entirely new nor anything but an escalation.

I am trying not to post on these events in this state of mind but: I hope people understand what the observers are doing is brave and dangerous.
